May 6, Kenwood
Laura Hinerfeld and Dale Henry Geist today announced August 23rd as the date for this year's Dog Day's Fest. The event, which in its first two years achieved such a salutary blend of good beer, good music, and good friends, promises another killer musical lineup, featuring perennial Cur-ville fave JL Stiles and highly-anticipated sets by the Adam Traum Trio, Doug Blumer, and others, with still more acts to be confirmed.
The Fest will once again be held at the gorgeous Rockin’ Heart Ranchito in Kenwood, surrounded by vine-covered hills. Horses and goats will look on as the music, brew, and good times flow into the summer evening. “In the words of Chris Farley - that was awesome,” said Cur-ville citizen Michael Cygan of Chicago, about last year's Fest.
DDF07. Yes, that's dog food holding

This year's canine clambake will be the first for young Amos Henry Daniel Geist, and you can expect a special musical tribute, featuring no less than three songs written expressly for the little stinker - by three different artists. (Full disclosure: two of them are Ma and Pa). This will augment the traditional excuse for the Fest, which is a dual birthday celebration. (The 17th and 24th, Dale and Laura respectively - and this year's Fest falls right on Adam Traum's birthday, so don't forget to give him a spank!)
Do these people look uptight?

The Cur-ville Commissioners were mighty stoked about this year’s confirmed artists. The pooch party will feature the Cur-ville debuts of the Adam Traum Trio, Doug Blumer, Larry Potts, and the duo of Gayle and Bob Gram, as well as the return of Fest mainstays JL Stiles and Dale Henry Geist. They are especially tickled to present the fabulous mermaid Rose Harting as MC. More swingin’ artists still to be announced.
It's cool to be on the crew. Besides the camaraderie and the war stories, you'll get a snazzy DDF08 T-shirt, all the food you can drink and all the beer you can eat.
Call or email us if you want to help. We will love you forever.
This year we're going to block off an area with haybales and put a kiddie pool and a sandbox in it. And that's just for the teenagers!
If you're planning on staying up in Beer Country (aka Wine Country), now's the time to book your accomodations, as August is wedding season up here. Here are some suggestions.
If you're driving here and don't want to drive back, may we recommend camping right here at the Ranchito? The temps ought to be mild enough to just throw a bag down and crash under the stars - and we got stars, oh yes we do.
