Dog Days Fest 06

Typical Dog Days Fest scene.

What Is the Cur-ville Dog Days Fest?

The Cur-ville Dog Days Festival is a back yard party that Laura Hinerfeld and Dale Henry Geist throw every August to celebrate their birthdays, their anniversary, their friends, great music, beer, food, and of course, dogs. We invite our friends and their friends to play, listen, eat, drink, and camp out.

The center of the Fest is the music stage, which has wall-to-wall ear candy for eight to ten hours. Some of the fine artists to play at Cur-ville include Kathy Kallick, Solid Air, Michael McNevin, JL Stiles, Adam Traum, Mayne Smith, Johnny Harper, and lots more. After the scheduled acts, there's an open jam.

Other cool features include a supervised kids' play area, food, beer and wine, song circles, and camping out under the stars at the Ranchito.

The first Dog Days Fest was at Rockin' Heart Ranchito El Primera, in Penngrove, and was an intimate, makeshift affair. We were married the day of the second one, at Ranchito El Segundo, in Kenwood. The third Fest, in 2008, was the first to benefit a charity, Delta PAWS Animal Rescue. 2009's beneficiary was Kenwood School's music program. In 2010 we celebrated Dale's 50th and Guthrie's one-month birthdays, as well as Laura's birthday and our anniversary.
